Work in Progress

I'm still trying to balance my time out.  For some unknown reason I actually thought it would a lot easier than it really is to find time enough for my friends, my writing, and life in general.  Blah.  Its one of those situations where I need just a few more hours in my day and I'd be set.  I'm finding that since I started writing again after my year, year and a half stint of almost writing nothing (which was emotionally draining, grr) my mind is whirring a mile a minute now full of lots of new stories and they're all screaming for my attention and I don't want to let any of them -- or any of you (the readers) down.  I just don't want to get into the same situation I was a long time ago and have so many ideas that I eventually just get so overwhelmed I can't finish anything.  That would be really annoying.  Although I don't really think that will happen.  Most of what I have are one-shots, which despite my one-shot tendency to be a lot longer than most people's they're still not that big of a handful, and my other stories, as long as I keep them under at least 10 with a priority list of about 3-5 I should be pretty well ok.

Currently my biggest priorities are "Imperium et Libertas" and "Son of Mars" although I would really like to get going on my Burke story "Come What May" again.  Its not like I think its going to be something truly special (then again I don't really think any of my writing is that special, but meh...) its just I've always wanted to write a Burke story and I damn well want to get a decent ways into it.  I already have over ten chapters loosely planned depending upon the way the story takes me, but knowing me the characters will start arguing with me and tell me in no uncertain terms that what I'm wanting is not the way they want to go and will picket until I write their version.  Its happened in Imperium already.  It will most likely happen in "Son of Mars," too.  Damn those ungrateful bastards.  *shakes fist at them all, but can't pretend to stay mad and sighs*  Yeah, I'm so intimidating.

I've also got a few mini-series floating around in my head including: You Don't Know Me (a Benny Story, which isn't as creatively unique as I would like it to be sigh), Dissolute (A Vulpes Story I'm trying to figure out how to end), Last Request (another Benny one that might be a one-shot, or might be a short series depending upon interest), and a series of one-shots that kind of coalesce together only because they're the same LW character in all of them that I haven't titled which is just about three or four Burke/LW stories with shameless naughty things involved.  Bad me, I know, but I can't help being obsessed with the man for some damned reason.  >.>  I blame it on Bethesda for not explaining him better and making him all mysterious and shit.

There's some other stories bouncing around my brain, too.  I've been crushing on Butch DeLoria for the past couple weeks as well and have a Butch/LW/Possible Charon story.  And then I have the reawakening of my first NV character Eadan in story form.  Its a story I've wanted to write for a while, but wasn't sure how to go about it.  It will involve Harland (the ghoul you find in the Repconn basement during the "Come Fly With Me" quest), and Boone at least.  Yeah, I'll finally be writing a Boone story, sheesh, like we need more of those on FF.NET, but hell I wanted to try my hand and I promise not to make it fluffy, and shit I might not even put them together depending upon how the story goes.  Pretty much I thought that Harland and Boone would actually make good friends if they spent time together and between the three of them make an interesting trio so I have to give it a go.  If anyone's interested then let me know and I'll try to get a bit written and posted, but its still such a vague idea that I don't know how I want to start with it.  Blarg.  The last longer-chaptered story I wanted to write is actually about The King, who I've liked since the first time I had one of my characters step into Freeside.  I've always wanted to explore his character a little more, but I've been kind of afraid to.  For some reason I can write "bad guys" a lot better than I can write nice guys.  Although the King story will likely not be as long as "Imperium" of "Son of Mars" or even either of the others I want to write.  And its mostly going to have to do with life inside Freeside as opposed to the Courier's story throughout the game, which in a way will be a little refreshing to write because as messed up as Freeside is at the beginning it will be a change to write her going through a completely different set of struggles as she tries to help him clean up the area and make a difference -- as well as the eventual romance that's going to brew between her and the King.  So... Yeah.  I've kind of rambled on tonight but I need to just talk about stuff.

Pretty much like the title says everything is just a work in progress, including myself, and if any of you are reading this I really appreciate your support and continued readership of my stories.  You're all full of awesome that I cannot measure.

Too Must Fallout?

I had a funny-ish dream this morning.  It was a mix of present modern times and Fallout.  The thing I remember at the beginning is that I was in an assembly room either at a college or a city hall.  There some big meeting going to happen about something and there was a large screen set up to watch some sort of projector video.  I was with my friend Will and his girlfriend (one that apparently my mind made up because he's single O.o; ).  And he got all upset.  He was sitting almost bleacher style, just a little above in the row directly behind me.  His eyes kept moving to the right of him.  When I asked what was wrong he says, "Benny's here."

In the dream that brought back the memories of my dream self.  Benny, yeah I knew Benny.  I knew why Will was upset about Benny being there, too.  "It doesn't matter."

"He shot you!"

Then his girlfriend looked all surprised and goes, "you mean she's the Courier."  Apparently the Courier had become a big news thing lately but no one could figure out who she was.  I don't know if in my dream it had to do with a Chip or if there was some other reason the dream Benny shot me.

"Well, somebody has to be."  I muttered and looked over to where Benny was sitting.  He immediately caught my gaze and gave me this big charismatic smile, which I actually returned.  Then we started to talk, banter back and forth.  I wish I could remember what was said because it was really funny.  We were flirting with each other.

Then the people who had called the meeting of the --town, college, whatever the fuck?-- came in and started the showing.  I don't remember what was talked about.  When it was over I intended to catch up with Benny and talk to him, but he slipped through the crowd and disappeared.  I was disappointed.

Later I was with my friend Tsugi and we were at an old building.  This was apparently a place we had been to before and were surprised when we suddenly found a group of ghouls living there.  At first we got into an argument because they wanted us to go away, but we argued and said this had been our place to hang out for a very long time and we could share it.  So we agreed to stay out of each other's way, which got really difficult because for some reason I started getting this terrible crush on one of them.

Time passed apparently and suddenly I was in the passenger seat of a dream-friend's car and they pulled into the driveway of this old house with a worn wooden fence around it.  I got the feeling we weren't supposed to be there because she told me to make it quick and that she wanted to get out of there.  I grabbed my backpack (which is weird because I don't use backpacks) and jumped out and went through the gate beside the house into the back area.  When I got back there the dream house had the backyard of where I actually live now, and I got the impression I had lived here once but had moved recently and someone else moved in.  In that "backyard" which was more like this huge piece of land that belonged to the house, was the building that me and Tsugi always hung out in.  When I entered that building I noticed that a lot of our stuff was still there and I started to collect it, but not before I left a note, written in sharpie, for the Ghouls that stayed there.  In the dream they had two places that they stayed and I had happened to come back when they were in the other place so I couldn't talk to them.

I wrote to them saying that if they needed any help to come find me.  There were three lines but I can't remember the third.  I then left it on the table near the step ladder that led up to the second floor, hoping they'd see it.  I actually think the real reason in my dream for returning there was not to get our stuff but to see them and I was really sad they were gone and that I couldn't stay and wait for them.

On the way out I realized that I heard voices and dream-friend was talking to someone on the otherside of the gate, owner? maybe.  The memory that there had been some sort of murder lately cropped up in my mind, but I don't know if I knew anything about it personally, was looking into it, or perhaps had even caused it.  Before I could go back through the gate I woke up.  Never did find out if I got together with my dream-ghoul.  (Haha, that can have two meanings!)

Back in the Saddle!

Its been a little over a year now since the catastrophic loss of my hard drive and everything on it, but I’m back and working on a few new projects. As of now I’m concentrating on the Fallout universe, especially the story "Someone I Used to Know." I think this has the most potential for being finished than anything else I've ever worked on. Also trying to make profile look better. Still kind of messy though.
